Eligibility for the UMGF requires students to maintain a minimum admission GPA of 3.00, calculated based on their current graduate program admission. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or hold a valid student visa.

Typically, the deadline for UMGF applications is set in February or March, aligning with the start of the academic year for new graduate students.

  2. Departmental Recommendation: If selected, your department or unit will recommend you to the Faculty of Graduate Studies for the UMGF.

  3. Award Decision: The Faculty of Graduate Studies will review all departmental recommendations and award UMGFs to the most qualified candidates.
