The African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), inaugurated in 1988 as a non-profit organization, is dedicated to the enhancement of economic policy research and education across Africa. The Consortium's mission and strategic direction are predicated on the understanding that sustained growth in sub-Saharan Africa necessitates a cadre of highly trained, locally grounded professional economists. AERC champions the cause of capacity building in economic policy, serving both Francophone and Anglophone African nations by extending support in policy research and postgraduate education.
